The EmpowerOKC Counseling Program provides evidence-based, trauma-informed mental health services to children, adolescents, young adults, and their families who need support.
We use trauma-informed approaches to help individuals and families cope with issues related to foster care and adoption, ranging from current foster care placements to finalized adoptions to young adults who have previously experienced foster care. Our counselors take a holistic approach by focusing on building attachment, meeting sensory and environmental needs, and teaching regulation skills to children, teens, and adults.
We partner with families who have experienced challenges and who may need support to learn healthy ways of addressing difficult behaviors such as school difficulty, anger, aggression, anxiety, defiance, family conflict, and hyperactivity, among others. Our counselors use a whole-child approach and incorporate caregivers into sessions as much as possible to help families develop new strategies that work for them. We also serve children who are experiencing behavioral problems in conjunction with developmental delay.
TBRI: Lilyfield’s counseling program places an emphasis on Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®). TBRI® is an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children. TBRI® uses Empowering Principles to address physical needs, Connecting Principles for attachment needs, and Correcting Principles to disarm fear-based behaviors. While the intervention is based on years of attachment, sensory processing, and neuroscience research, the heartbeat of TBRI® is connection.
